WAFZ AM&FM targets the International and Regional
Mexican listeners in Southwest Florida with a “Top-50” style sound.
La Ley and its companion stations are uniquely different from most
of the other Hispanic stations in South Florida. Most stations are
programming to reach the Cuban population. WAFZ AM&FM targets the
Mexican and South American Hispanic and for some very good reasons.
Over one in four persons in South Florida are Hispanic. In the years
from 1980 to 2000, the Hispanic population in Collier, Lee and
Hendry counties has seen a 900% explosion, 68% of these are Mexican.
Nearly Eighty-Five Thousand Hispanics in Greater Southwest Florida
responded that they don’t speak English very well and that they
prefer to speak only Spanish. That is why radio is so important to
Latin’s -- 98% of all Hispanics are reached by radio each week and
WAFZ AM & FM is there for the Hispanics of Southwest Florida with
music and lifestyle programming that they relate to.

WOKC is South/Central
Florida's strongest True Country Music voice. For over 40
years, WOKC has been serving the Lake Okeechobee
communities with five decades of Country Music along with
News, Weather and Sports from all around the lake packaged with
fun-filled promotions throughout the year.
In June of 2001, WOKC was purchased by Glades Media Company and a state of the art
studio with new equipment and personnel was opened in downtown
Okeechobee. The station's signal was upgraded to the new,
cutting-edge digital sound producing a louder and farther reaching
voice than ever before. With these changes came a significant
increase in coverage area allowing WOKC-AM to completely blanket the
entire big lake area as well as a portion of Florida's east coast.
WOKC-AM @ 1570 is the most influential media voice in the Lake
Okeechobee area appealing to a huge demographic range drawn to
Country Music's Greatest Hits. "The Country Store" is the
longest running show around the lake and is accented with other
special programs including: "The Morning Show Live"; "Job
Connection", "Dairyline", "Area Ag Report",
"Tight Lines with Sammy Lee" and "Pit Road Report" to
name a few.
WOKC can now be heard on 100.9FM in Okeechobee too! |
